Jurgen Klopp has been given extra option ahead of Liverpool's busy schedule.

The Reds will play every weekend and midweek until the next international break, which proceeds the ever-hectic Christmas period.

With Premier League, Champions League and League Cup games to come, Klopp will be looking to avoid the sort of situation he found himself in last season, when Liverpool were ravaged by injuries and faltered as a result of their burnout.

But the German tactician now has an other option: young prodigy Mateusz Musialowski.

The 18-year-old, who arrived from Lodz in his native Poland last August, is only improving at youth level for the Reds and boasts a 15 goals and three assists from 33 academy appearances.

Musialowski scored in style during the Under-23's 3-0 victory over Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday, as the senior stars won at Watford.

The Pole marked his 18th birthday with a goal before Paul Glatzel and James Norris added strikes of their own in front of attending fans.

Musialowski's effort gave Barry Lewtas' team the lead after 55 minutes, as the teenager typically ran right through the opposition before slotting through the young Gunners goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo's legs.

He received plaudits from supporters on social media, with one tweeting: "Musialowski is by far the best youngster I've seen in LFC academy since Trent [Alexander-Arnold]."

Another added: "Okay let's get Musialowski some game time against Preston in FA Cup?"

That League Cup match at Preston North End comes after two huge games, the first being Tuesday's trip to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

When Klopp and co travel to Deepdale for their fourth consecutive away journey, Musialowski's involvement would allow one his more experienced fellow forwards to be rested and avoid overload by featuring against the Championship strugglers.

The attacker enjoyed an outstanding debut season with the club's under-18s last terms as they made the FA Youth Cup final in May against Aston Villa.

Speaking to This Is Anfield, Musialowski discussed his performance and the atmosphere inside Anfield, which he may need to soon get used to.

"It was an incredible feeling when everyone is clapping you," he explained.

"The atmosphere is incredible, there are no words to explain it.

"It's a good present for me but I think the most important thing is the three points.

"After a tough time, we won so it's incredible and I'm happy I could help the team."

He additionally discussed the step up to the Under-23s, having racked up 12 goals and three assists from 26 outings for the under-18s in 2020-21.

"Maybe I needed two or three games to get used to the tempo of the league because it's a little difficult compared to 18s, but now I feel really confident on the pitch," Musialowski admitted.

"I think for me it's not the biggest difference because I can dribble against huge players so it's even easier for me if the defender is bigger and stronger so I can twist their legs.

"So, I could say it's really quite easy for me to dribble."
