Luka Jovic began his Fiorentina career in stunning fashion, scoring four goals against Real Vicenza.
In his first friendly with the Italian side, the Serbian striker surpassed the paltry three goals in 51 games that he notched with Real Madrid.
Nor had he scored in his seven friendlies with Los Blancos, in stark contrast to the afternoon at the Campo Sportivo Carlo Benatti in mountainous Moena of the Trento province.
Sporting the No.21 on his back, Jovic scored his four goals just 45 minutes after coming on at half time.
The striker scored from the penalty spot, then another inside the box, followed by a header and finished with a fine strike in the 84th minute in a 7-0 thrashing of Real Vicenza.
He had chance to add to his tally too, but the opposing goalkeeper stopped him in stoppage time.
It was a remarkable debut in front of goal with four goals in 28 minutes, for Jovic, who wants to rediscover his best form in Florence after a quiet and inconsistent campaign at the Bernabeu, which he put an end to in this transfer window.
He played just 19 games (549 minutes) in which he scored one goal and provided three assists under Carlo Ancelotti. Now, the Serbian's started strongly at Fiorentina after three seasons without prominence in Madrid.
Jovic's ambition
Jovic, 24 and with the World Cup in Qatar on the horizon, wants to regain his fire in Italy.
"It was a step I needed in my career. I like Italian football and I think I can adapt well in the squad," he said at his unveiling.
"Serie A is very interesting, with many top teams fighting for the top positions in the standings. I want us to be up there."
He is off to a good start.
