Jamie Carragher has opened up on his touching exchange with Tyler Morton's father after the Liverpool youngster enjoyed an evening he will never forget against AC Milan.
Morton, 19, made just his third senior start for the Reds as they travelled to face European giants Milan at their home, the palatial San Siro, on Tuesday night.
Jurgen Klopp 's faith in the young central midfielder was richly rewarded as Liverpool came from behind to win 2-1 and finish their Champions League group stage campaign with a record of six victories from six games.
Morton, a Merseyside native, joined Liverpool aged seven and Carragher knows his family well as he played in the same academy teams as his son, Wigan Athletic defender James Carragher.

The Anfield legend made sure to mark a special occasion for the teenager by texting his dad ahead of kick-off, once it was confirmed he would be starting in the heart of midfield.
Carragher shared the message live on CBS Sports after the full-time whistle blew, saying: "Someone just texted me back, let's get the text.
"Yes! I texted him (Morton's dad) before the game when I saw the teamsheet, 'Delighted for you and the family.'"
He then told the studio the reply he had just received, which read: "Can't believe it. Wow, thank you!"
Carragher declared he was "delighted" for Morton as he reflected on a special outing for the Liverpool No.80.
He added: "So that's his dad - I was telling the truth! My son was at Liverpool - they go in really young now - aged six.
"I've watched that group of players. There's another lad on the bench, James Norris, he never came on.
"So I've seen them come right through the sort of system and they're at that age now - 18 or 19 - where they have to make their name in the game.
"I thought Tyler Morton was outstanding in midfield, he was fantastic. A teenage player playing for Liverpool - one of the biggest clubs in European football, your hometown club - the San Siro.
"The San Siro's one of those... I mean I played there only once when I was in my late 20s and for me it was like, 'This is amazing, this is unbelievable.'
"And he's (Morton's) only 18 or 19 and to play in a game when they've won, not just play, putting in the performance he did was a... I'm delighted for him.

"And as I said, the family, the mothers and fathers... for Jurgen Klopp as well, giving those lads a chance, he really does give them a go."
Having been on Liverpool's books since 2009, Morton signed a new long-term deal with the club in January this year which is believed to run until the summer of 2025.
A versatile midfielder, he thrives in a holding role as the No.6 or in a more advanced position from which he can score or assist.
