Jack Wilshere completes first training session at Danish side AGF ahead of debut

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has taken part in training with new club AGF for the first time since joining the Danish side on a short-term deal.

The Englishman, 30, ended his eight-month stint as a free agent on Sunday by signing a contract until the end of the season with the option for another year.

Wilshere had been without a club since his release by Championship outfit Bournemouth at the end of last season and had been training with the Gunners for many months after failing to join Italian club Como in the summer.

He has been handed the No. 10 shirt at AGF - the same jersey he wore for Arsenal - and could make his debut in the Superliga clash against stragglers Vejle on Friday.

Wilshere completed his first training session alongside his new teammates and coaches on Monday at the club's Fredensvang headquarters.

In footage shared on AGF's official Twitter account, he can be seen receiving the ball and quickly offloading it during a small-sided game with a maximum of three touches per player.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Wilshere admitted he is "not fully match fit" and seemed to send a message to his new manager, David Nielsen, by asking for minutes to build up his physical condition.

But the former England international, who earned 34 caps, acknowledged those he had been working alongside at Arsenal by saying he had "been training for a long period of time with good players".

Wilshere also opened up on his conversations with AGF assistant head coach David Reddington, who previously worked with Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace.

"It all happened really quick," the Hale End academy graduate said of the transfer. "I had a conversation with one of the coaches, David Reddington. He explained to me about the club, how good it is and how much I'd enjoy it.

"He worked with someone I worked with closely, Roy Hodgson, who I enjoyed working with.

"I knew Dave would have a similar way of doing things. Then I spoke with the head coach and really liked what they were saying.

"I always said that in my career I wanted to try something different. I think now was the right time to step out of my comfort zone, step out of England and try something different."

Wilshere is understood to earn £5,000 per week at AGF, substantially less than he was accustomed to pocketing throughout his career in England.
