The Merseysiders followed up their poor performance in a 4-1 loss away to Manchester City with another drab display in a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, with the home side wasting a series of opportunities.

Chelsea had the ball in the back of the Liverpool net on multiple occasions, only to be denied by VAR, but there were plenty of fine chances that just whistled wide too.
One late on saw a poor headed clearance from Joel Matip fall to Chelsea's Joao Felix, who was falling off balance as he wasted another chance and sent the ball over the bar.

That prompted a furious Henderson to confront Alisson, as the Liverpool captain appeared to accuse his goalkeeper of not communicating with Matip.
The Brazilian responded angrily and the pair were briefly in each other's faces before Henderson walked away.
The TV cameras switched away after the incident, but thankfully talkSPORT commentators Sam Matterface and Stuart Pearce were able to detail the heated scenes in the Liverpool box.
"Alisson and Henderson are now having a proper tear-up, a proper row in the penalty area away to our right," Matterface said.

"Joel Matip is getting involved as well, Liverpool players are losing their heads with one another."
England legend Pearce added: "It stems from Saturday, you can see the frustration there and on this occasion you're looking at such a poor miss [from Felix]."
Liverpool have endured a tough season, in start contrast to their outstanding 2021/22 campaign when they came so close to a quadruple and ended it with two cups.

They have lost nine times in the the Premier League this term and are sitting eighth in the table following the goalless draw at Chelsea, seven points off the top four.
Henderson admits it hasn't been good enough, but says everyone at the club must stick together to get back to their best.
On their struggles, he said: "Not enough consistency, the energy at times hasn't looked quite there and there will be loads of different reasons for that. I don't think there is just one reason that you can go, 'Oh, that's it or that's it.'
"There will be a lot of noise from the outside but what is important is that you stay together, you stay positive within the dressing room and you don't let outside influences affect what we're trying to do.

"You've got to keep fighting - yes, it hasn't been brilliant this season but we've got to keep fighting right until the end and see where it takes us, and deal with it when that comes."
