Howe can't contain laughter as Newcastle reporter presses him on 'nice morning feeling'

With a spot in the top four up for grabs, it was a pivotal victory that keeps them third and Manchester United and Liverpool below them.

And Telegraph reporter Luke Edwards decided to press Howe further, asking on Friday: "To take you back to one your earlier answers, what was the nice feeling you woke up with?"

It led to fits of laughter from the Newcastle coach, along with several other journalists in the room.

Regaining his composure, Howe replied: "I'll try keep this very clean!

"It is just that first couple of seconds when you wake up, Luke, I am sure you've had it.

"Erm… I'll leave it there!"

Howe had answered earlier in the press conference: "I woke up this morning with a good feeling.

"You have that one or two second delay when you wake up after a night game… then the realisation that the team played well and everyone will be in a positive mood.

"For those couple of seconds it's a really nice feeling."

Newcastle have two matches left in the season in what has been a fantastic campaign for the Toon.

Currently sitting third on 69 points, they are on the brink of securing Champions League football - which they have not played since 2003.

They face struggling Leicester tonight at St James Park, where a win would likely relegate the Foxes as they toil in the bottom three.

Howe's men then travel to London for the final day of the season to take on Chelsea, who have won just once since Frank Lampard was hired as interim manager.

Newcastle have had top performers throughout the season with players such as Callum Wilson, Sven Botman, Miguel Almiron, Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier all proving crucial.

And armed with some serious cash, they could go on further and strengthen in the summer transfer window.

With Champions League football, it will make it even easier to convince top targets to make their way to the north-east.
