Hertha are already wobbling after being soundly beaten by Bochum in an early 2023 relegation six-pointer. Sandro Schwarz's side lost 3-1 in their first Bundesliga game of the year, falling into the automatic drop zone as a result. They've only won three times all season, though two of those victories have fallen across their last three home matches. In welcome news, Schwarz can call on seven-goal top scorer Dodi Lukebakio again following a mandatory one-match ban. Derry Scherhant is expected to make way in attack, but Stevan Jovetic remains on the sidelines. An unused substitute last time out, Kevin-Prince Boateng remains on the fringes of the first team in this his final season as a pro.

Wolfsburg won't care too much about the opposition after extending their winning run to five matches with a 6-0 rout of high-flying Freiburg. Wind scored twice at the Volkswagen-Arena on Matchday 16, the hamstring troubles that sidelined the Danish forward earlier in the campaign a thing of the past. Given the emphatic nature of the contest and Germany international striker Lukas Nmecha's continued absence, Niko Kovac would've liked no reason to deviate from his winning formula. However, Felix Nmecha has been ruled out with a thigh issue, while left-back Paulo Otavio serves a one-game suspension. Depending on results elsewhere in midweek, the Wolves could climb to within a point of the top four with a win.
