It's fair to say Hertha need all the help they can get. The Old Lady have slipped into the relegation play-off spot on goal difference, following a seven-match winless run - including defeats in their last three - and are only four points clear of the automatic drop zone. They've won just two of 11 league matches under Tayfun Korkut, despite the best efforts of Stevan Jovetic. The journeyman striker has scored four of his team-leading six goals since Pal Dardai vacated his role as head coach in early December. Marc-Oliver Kempf, Lukas Klünter and ex-Frankfurt man Kevin-Prince Boateng are available again, while Borussia Dortmund-bound Marcel Lotka could continue in goal after making his debut in the 3-0 loss to Freiburg, in the absence of Alexander Schwolow and Rune Jarstein.
Oliver Glasner's Frankfurt have also been afflicted by the new year blues. Die Adler were steering a course for the top four at the halfway stage in the season, but have nosedived to 10th after taking four points from the last 21 on offer. Like Hertha, they've lost their last three on the spin, though were desperately unlucky not to get a draw against record champions Bayern Munich a week ago. Eintracht's downward trend coincides with top scorer Borre's six-game barren spell. The Colombian hasn't scored since hitting a brace in defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 18, but is set to be recalled to the starting line-up at the expense of Dortmund loanee Ansgar Knauff. The suspension-free Kristijan Jakic should go straight back into the midfield, meanwhile, with Aijdin Hrustic a candidate to make way.
Match stats
Boateng made 36 competitive appearances for Frankfurt in 2017/18, winning the DFB Cup.
Jovetic is averaging a goal every 151 minutes in the Bundesliga. He's already scored as many times in 15 German top-flight games as he did in 21 in La Liga (six).
Hertha are winless seven matches into a Rückrunde for the first time in 16 years (D2, L5), but have recorded more wins over Frankfurt (30) than any other Bundesliga team they've faced.
Six matches is Borre's longest barren spell of the Bundesliga season.
Filip Kostic is second league wide for crosses from open play (128), and joint third for assists (seven).
Frankfurt have lost three Bundesliga games in a row for both the first time under Glasner, and in five years.
