A 4-1 defeat at Wolfsburg curbed Fürth's recent progress, leaving Stefan Leitl's men 12 points from safety with chances quickly running out for a great escape. As a consequence of that defeat, which ended a four-game unbeaten streak, Leitl may make a change in goal with Sweden international Andreas Linde replacing Sascha Burchert. He does have to make one alteration to his defence with Marco Meyerhöfer ruled out, so Simon Asta is expected to line up on the right-hand side of a back four. Up front, captain Branimir Hrgota will be tasked with reviving the Clover Leaves' fortunes with Jamie Leweling in support.
Hertha have yet to win in 2022 and their coach Tayfun Korkut faces a late decision over the inclusion of Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, who was unable to train earlier in the week. He is not the only doubt for Korkut, who was without Marc Oliver Kempf due to an illness which also prevented Kevin-Prince Boateng from joining his teammates in training on Tuesday. Suat Serdar is on standby to replace Ekkelenkamp in midfield, while - with Dedryck Boyata still sidelined - central defenders are a little thin on the ground, should Kempf not recover. Seventeen-year-old Linus Gechter could be an option, otherwise full-back Lukas Klünter could shift across into a position he has played in before this season.
Match stats
Fürth captain Hrgota leads the division for penalties scored with four (out of four).
Never before have the Clover Leaves gone four games in a row unbeaten at home in the Bundesliga (W2, D2). They've also only conceded once during that run.
However, the four own goals by Fürth players is twice as many as any other team this season.
Jovetic's assist last matchday means the Montenegrin has now both scored and set up goals in the top flights in Germany, England, Spain, France and Italy.
New Hertha centre-back Kempf bagged the only brace of his career against Fürth on the opening day of this season as former club Stuttgart won 5-1.
The Berliners are yet to win a game in 2022 (D2, L3) and have also failed to score in four of their last five away fixtures.
