The French women's national team have been dealt a heavy blow following news that Camille Nell, the partner of goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin, has been found dead.
Nell was found dead in their apartment in Turin according to AFP news agency, with the incident taking place a few days before the start of the Women's European Championship.
Although the death occurred on July 4, the cause of death remains unknown.
"The family's requests have been, as far as we can, satisfied," said Turin prosecutor Enrico Arnaldi di Balme.
"My team has been working, from the beginning, in close liaison with the French consulate in Milan."
Camille and Pauline have been together for several years and entered into a union by PACS, a civil solidarity pact similar to a civil wedding.
The goalkeeper was the first French footballer who spoke about her homosexuality back in 2020.
