Four Barcelona players in world's best U18 line-up

marca.com, 14 October 2021, 14:52
Things aren't all bad at the Camp Nou

As Barcelona struggle for consistent results in the 2021/22 campaign, which is a similar story to last season, there is one big positive to have come out of the last 18 months at the Camp Nou: the emergence of some very talented youngsters.

Their La Masia academy is legendary, and they do still have some of the most promising young stars in the world, as evidenced by the way in which the likes of Gavi and Ansu Fati have seamlessly come into the first team.

Going off of Transfermarkt's valuations, Barcelona have four of the most valuable U18 players in the world. Here is how the potentially world-class line-up of the future looks.

Goalkeeper

Dogan Alemdar: The Turkish 18-year-old, who was bought by Rennes for 3.5 million euros from Kayserispor over the summer, is between the sticks in this hypothetical XI.

Defenders

Tino Livramento: The right-back has made an immediate impact at Southampton after joining the club from Chelsea. Livramento is a very attacking player, but he is also capable of stopping some of the Premier League's top wingers.

Kaiky Fernandes: The Santos star has been tipped as the great new hope to command Brazil's defence. Kaiky recently became the youngest Santos player to score in the Copa Libertadores.

Alejandro Balde: He recently made his Barcelona debut in the Champions League against Bayern Munich. Balde is very gifted physically and is capable of racing down the left flank without much trouble.

Midfielders

Eduardo Camavinga: It has not taken Camavinga long to win over Real Madrid's fans after the Spanish side paid 40 million euros to sign him from Rennes in the summer. He even scored on his debut at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu against Celta Vigo.

Pedri: In just over a year, the 18-year-old has gone from playing in Spain's second division to being nominated for the Ballon d'Or. Now, he is viewed as one of Barcelona and Spain's key players.

Jude Bellingham: The pride of Birmingham, Jude Bellingham has impressed in his time at Borussia Dortmund. The box-to-box midfielder is difficult to stop given his physical presence and how well he reads the game, despite being just 18 years old.

Gavi: He might only be 17, but the Spanish midfielder made headlines all around Europe when he started for Spain in the Nations League finals. There is no doubt that Barcelona's Gavi is a future star in the making.

Forwards

Jamal Musiala: The Stuttgart-born forward is already showing that he has the potential to be a star in the future for Bayern Munich, having scored 11 goals for the side already. Musiala's importance seems to be growing with each week.

Florian Wirtz: The Bundesliga's wonder boy, Wirtz has already beaten Lukas Podolski's record of being the youngest player to have scored 10 Bundesliga goals.

Ansu Fati: Stepping into Lionel Messi's footsteps is not easy, but there is nobody that deserved the No.10 jersey more than Barcelona's Ansu Fati. The Spain international has all the qualities to become one of the best strikers in world football one day.
