Ahead of a potentially heated clash between last season's Europa Conference League finalists, Tottenham-linked Feyenoord manager Arne Slot told his fans not to bring fireworks to the game.
The call came a week on from disturbing scenes in the Dutch Cup on April 5 when Ajax's Davy Klaassen was left bloodied by an object thrown from the crowd by a Feyenoord fan.
The incident saw an arrest made and the KNVB Cup suspended by 30 minutes, while there was an earlier delay for the use of pyrotechnics.
During the delay for Klaassen's injury, Feyenoord assistant John de Wolf took a microphone and berated the home crowd, saying: "Use your brain, damn it, make sure nothing else gets on the field.

"Get us back behind the team. We desperately need you. But use your mind!"

The fans appear to have listened to De Wolf and Slot, by going back to an old tradition that began in the early 1990s.
De Noordzijde fan group put out an earlier appeal saying: "BRING BACK THE INFLATABLES!
"Thursday, April 13, at home against AS Roma, 12th minute!
"Bring your inflatable pool, inflatable crocodile, inflatable flamingo or other inflatable item, let's create old-fashioned chaos again!"

The added atmosphere appeared to help Feyenoord, who won the match 1-0 thanks to Mats Wieffer's strike ahead of next week's returg leg in Italy.
Despite the incredible scenes this time around, the gesture was embroiled in controversy in 2015 when an inflatable banana landed at the feet of former Roma and Arsenal winger Gervinho which led to a £44,000 fine from UEFA.
