There were some unflattering scenes in Turkey during Fenerbahce's Champions League qualifier with Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday night.
Fans of the Turkish side began chanting the name of Russian president Vladimir Putin after Vitaliy Buyalskyi put Dynamo up 1-0 on the night.
The Ukrainian fired home a low cross and celebrated by facing one of the stadium's backdrops with his arms in the air.
This sparked anger and jeers from the Turkish fans.
In response, they shouted "Vladimir Putin", the man who ordered the invasion of Ukraine and who is responsible for the suffering the country has faced for the last few months.
Lucescu outraged with the Turks
Dynamo Kyiv coach Mircea Lucescu called the chants "deplorable" when assessing his team's performance.
"I ask you if you have counted how many fouls they have committed against us," he said. "The game went well. Everything went to plan, and we won.
"But we didn't count on the fans; I didn't expect this shouting, it's a disgrace."
UEFA investigates the chants
UEFA immediately announced that they would be opening an investigation into the matter.
"In accordance with Article 31(4) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, a UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding alleged misbehaviour of Fenerbahce supporters during the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League second qualifying round, second leg match between Fenerbah
