Everton striker Dominic Calvert Lewin was fined £900 after pleading guilty to speeding while driving a Lamborghini through Runcorn.
Chester Magistrates' Court heard on Tuesday that Calvert-Lewin's vehicle was recorded speeding on the A533 Central Expressway southbound near Halton Lodge towards Beechwood at 1.08pm on August 18 last year. His Lamborghini was travelling at 58mph in a 50mph zone.
After initially pleading not guilty to speeding and a charge of failing to provide information, Calvert-Lewin - who was not present in court and lives in Bowdon, Altrincham - changed his speeding plea to guilty via his legal representation Barry Warburton. Prosecutor Michael O'Kane offered no evidence on the charge of failing to provide information meaning the charge was dropped.
A magistrates panel, chaired by Roy Baron, fined Calvert-Lewin £900, with an order to pay prosecution costs of £620, all within 28 days, and ordered a surcharge of £90. Three points were added to his licence, meaning he now has six points following a previous incident of speeding on February 28, 2020.
Mr Warburton commented that Calvert-Lewin was a "professional footballer" with a "disposable income in excess of £450 per week". The 24-year-old striker, who has missed a number of games this season through injury, last featured for the Merseyside club in their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on March 7.
Calvert-Lewin was ruled out of his team's weekend defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers through illness. Everton's next Premier League game takes place on Thursday night, with Frank Lampard's side hosting fellow bottom-half side Newcastle United, and it is unclear at this stage whether Calvert-Lewin will be available to feature against Eddie Howe's team.
Calvert-Lewin finished last season as Everton's top Premier League goalscorer with 16 goals. He finished with 21 in all competitions, but has scored just three times this term after missing the bulk of the season.
The striker won a fan vote to claim the men's player of the year award for the 2020-21 season at Everton. His goals earned him a call-up for England's European Championships squad, where he appeared in victories over Croatia and Ukraine.
His goalscoring form continued at the start of the 2021-22 campaign, with three goals in the first three games of the season. However, after suffering an injury against Brighton in August which ruled him out for several months, he has not netted since.
