Dani Alves breaks Brazil record and has his eyes set on World Cup glory in Qatar

How old is Dani Alves?

Alves started his playing career back in 2001 with EC Bahia, and here we are 21 years later, and he's still playing.

He might not be in a top European league anymore, but he is still an important member of Tite's squad and has played in two World Cup games so far.

He made history against Cameroon by becoming the oldest Brazilian player to feature in a World Cup match at the grand age of 39.

The former Barcelona man turns 40 next May and his contract with UNAM Pumas, in Mexico, expires in June next year.

Therefore, Alves may still be playing at the age of 40, and as he admitted recently, he just loves football.

Alves has played for some of the world's biggest clubs, Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, but he is showing no signs of slowing down.

Alves made his name as an attacking right-back who possessed extraordinary ability on the ball.

He has never really been known for his defending, but his marauding runs down the right were a feature of some of the greatest Barcelona sides of recent times.

He made over 400 appearances for the La Liga giants and provided over 100 assists.

Alves also played 73 games for PSG and 33 for Juventus, so the potential for winning trophies has been huge and he has collected a lot along the way.

The 39-year-old has won the Champions League three times with Barcelona and was a huge part of the 2008/09 and 2010/11 sides.

On top of that, he also won La Liga six times with Barca - as well as 17 other trophies while playing at the Nou Camp.

But Alves also won two Ligue 1 titles with PSG and the Europa League twice with Sevilla.

He was part of the 2016/17 Juve side that won Serie A and has tasted success with the national team as well.

Alves can count two Copa America titles and one Olympic Gold Medal amongst his ridiculous trophy cabinet, which includes a total of 43 trophies, making him the most decorated footballer on the planet.

In fact, no player since records began has won more silverware than Alves.

But he has never won the World Cup - this is the only trophy that has escaped his grasp.

Brazil are one of the favourites to become six-time world champions and lifting the trophy next Sunday would complete an unbelievable career that no one can match in terms of silverware.
