Crystal Palace v Liverpool live: Reds out to bounce back from Man United loss

talksport.com, 14 July 2022, 10:21
Liverpool have headed to Singapore for the next stop of their pre-season tour to take on Crystal Palace this week.

The Reds have faced Premier League opposition in their preparations already having fallen to a 4-0 defeat to rivals Manchester United in Thailand on Tuesday.

Liverpool will now be looking to bounce back from the humbling loss against the Eagles - having done the double over them last term.

Patrick Vieira has a heavily depleted squad to choose from after a mixture of fitness and visa issues meant just ten senior players made the trip to Asia.

Liverpool v Crystal Palace: Date and start time

This pre-season friendly will take place on Friday, July 15.

Kick-off at the 55,000-capacity Singapore National Stadium will take place at 1.35pm UK time.

Jurgen Klopp's side will travel to Germany next to take on RB Leipzig while Palace will return to their training ground to face Ipswich Town.

Liverpool v Crystal Palace: Team news

Liverpool came through the defeat to United without any injury issues and could be set to field their top stars from the start.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez were substitutes in Bangkok and will be looking for more minutes here.

Palace will only have 10 senior players available due to fitness and stars failing to 'meet the entry requirements for Singapore or Australia when travel arrangements were made'.

Marc Guehi, Wilfried Zaha, Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, Christian Benteke and Cheikhou Kouyate are among those who have been left behind.

Liverpool v Crystal Palace: What has been said?

Following the defeat to United, Klopp said: "The result is there, so we have to accept that.

"But of course I think it's clear we could have scored our goals as well. Then it would have been an even more spectacular game.

"The goals we gave away for United, we nearly got assists for it, to be honest. But they used the chances and that's how it is. But I saw a lot of really good stuff from my team as well. The game obviously came a little bit early for us and a few of our players.

"It was pretty clear where we made the mistakes but you have to keep on playing and that's what we did and we could have scored three or four in the last five minutes - but we didn't and that's our fault.

"Atmosphere great, welcome fantastic, organisation really, really good. But result not."
