A key Paris Saint-Germain player since joining the club in 2012, when he arrived in Paris in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marco Verratti has become one of the fans' favourite players.
The Italy international has revealed that he is planning to apply for a French nationality because of what the country has given to him.
Verratti's children were born in France and the PSG midfielder got married in July 2021, in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
"My children were born here and I feel very rooted in French life," Verratti told La Gazzetta dello Sport's Sportweek magazine.
Historic achievements in France
Verratti has won as many as 28 titles with PSG, being the most successful player in the history of French football.
"We have won eight leagues in 10 years and 28 titles in total, something that seems obvious but is not," said the Italian midfielder.
He also acknowledged that his biggest dream is to win the Champions League and stood by his PSG and Italy teammate Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was at fault in Karim Benzema goal's during Real Madrid's comeback against the Ligue 1 in Europe earlier this year.
"Football is like that, you are king in July and we throw stones at you in March," noted Verratti.
"He is our present and our future, we are happy to have him."
