Cologne went unbeaten through their first five matches of the Bundesliga season, but are winless in two after losing to leaders Union Berlin and drawing with rock-bottom Bochum. The mid-table Billy Goats have also had UEFA Europa Conference League football on the agenda, posting a 1-1 draw in Nice and 4-2 win over Slovacko. Head coach Steffen Baumgart is yet to settle on his first-choice striker of the post-Anthony Modeste era. Ex-Dortmund youngster Steffen Tigges has made three starts as he vies for regular minutes with Florian Dietz, but is still to break his Bundesliga duck in Cologne colours. Despite returning to light training during the September international break, homegrown attacker Mark Uth may have to wait a while longer to make his comeback from injury.

Dortmund resume their pursuit of Bayern Munich's Bundesliga crown in second place, after taking local bragging rights against Schalke on Matchday 7. Cologne old boy Modeste started the game, but it was his second-half replacement, teenager Youssoufa Moukoko, who wrote his name into Revierderby folklore with the decisive goal. Modeste should get another opportunity to add to his only BVB goal to date - the winner against Hertha Berlin on Matchday 4 - but captain Marco Reus misses out after suffering an ankle injury last time out. Not included in Germany's September roster after an injury-hit start to his Dortmund career, Karim Adeyemi is expected to deputise. Bellingham, on the other hand, is fresh off two typically dominant midfield showings for England in the UEFA Nations League.

Match stats

Florian Kainz is Cologne's biggest goal threat after seven rounds fixtures, with two of his own and three assists.

Tigges has a Europa Conference League goal to show for his first seven matches in a Cologne shirt. His three goals in 23 senior outings for Dortmund all fell in the Bundesliga.

Cologne have won just one of their last 11 meetings with Dortmund (D5, L5).

Bellingham has won a league-high 119 challenges so far this season.

Modeste scored 79 goals in 157 competitive games for Cologne.

Dortmund are yet to draw a Bundesliga game this season, while Cologne have been involved in four. Only VfB Stuttgart have been held more often (five).
