Cologne were comfortably beaten 5-2 by Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Rhine derby last weekend. As well as local bragging rights, the game came at the expense of top scorers Florian Kainz and Dejan Ljubicic. Kainz was sent off after scoring his fourth Bundesliga goal of the season, while Ljubicic - with five goals in all competitions - was forced off late in the first half through injury. Head coach Steffen Baumgart rang the changes - as has been the norm in recent weeks - as Cologne lost 2-0 at Partizan Belgrade in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday. Kingsley Schindler, Ondrej Duda, Linton Maina and Tigges - who scored against former club Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 8 - dropped out of the side, but are expected to be recalled to the starting XI. Attacker Jan Thielmann is a doubt.
Mid-table Augsburg are level on 13 points with Cologne, thanks in no small part to a four-match unbeaten run. After a testing start to his Bundesliga coaching career, comprising one win and four defeats, Enrico Maaßen has presided three wins and a draw. No Bundesliga team has claimed as many points in that time, while nine points from a possible 12 on the road is among the top five away-day returns this season. Fenerbahce loanee Berisha - who scored the winner against Bayern Munich, but was sent off at Schalke - is set to go straight back into the side at the expense of Fredrik Jensen if he overcomes a knock in time. First-choice centre-backs Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Maximilian Bauer are suspended, however, leaving Robert Gumny and Frederik Winther as the most likely pairing at the heart of a patchwork defence.

Thirteeen points after nine matches is a new record for Augsburg since their promotion to the Bundesliga in 2011. Five wins from 10 games would mark another first.
