Chelsea 'expected' to change season ticket prices following Boehly's £1bn spree

The Blues' ownership have spent lavishly since taking over 18 months ago with an entirely new squad assembled.

But they now need to find a way to raise funds to pay for the huge amount of cash spent, including over £100m transfer fees on Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo as well as forking out £72m on Wesley Fofana.

And Chelsea chiefs are pondering whether to raise season ticket prices - despite a shocking 12 months.

According to the Evening Standard, no decision has been made on whether or not to increase the price.

But a consultation process is currently ongoing with conversations being held in meetings that point towards a price increase in the near future.

A strategy is being worked out with the Fans' Forum, which is a body made up of elected fans and senior members club officials.

The Fan Advisory Board is also being consulted, which is made up of seven nominated supporters that attend club board meetings.

But a change in policy regarding tickets is 'expected' after ticket prices were frozen this season following a disappointing first year at the club for BlueCo.

Across three transfer windows, Chelsea have spent over £1bn that has included several young players - many of whom have been loaned out.

With several big-name players leaving, the Blues have almost entirely changed their squad, but have had a disastrous year.

They currently sit tenth in the Premier League after finishing 12th last season and this is set to have an impact on their finances ahead of potentially two seasons out of Europe.

General admission tickets have been frozen since the 2011/12 season whereas other London clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham and Fulham are significantly more expensive.

Before the current campaign got underway, all but three clubs in the Premier League increased their season ticket prices - one of whom being Chelsea.
