Championship kit prices for 2022-23 with £21 gap between cheapest and dearest

The new Championship season is just over two weeks' away with Huddersfield hosting Burnley in the curtain-raiser on Friday, July 29.

The earlier-than-usual start is due to the World Cup being held in winter for the first time ever and a sizeable hiatus will therefore take place in the second tier, between November and December.

Whilst new signings are at the forefront of supporters' minds, also high on the priority list is checking out the new threads that their team will be parading. But it seems the early start has left more than a few teams scrambling to get their new kits finalised. A Mirror Football study looking at prices of each club's home kits has found that only two-thirds of the 24 clubs currently have strips on sale.

Eight sides are either yet to release their kits for 2022-23 or they have unveiled them but are yet to put them on sale to eager supporters. Of the clubs who have made them available, Championship newcomers Rotherham United come in at cheapest. The Millers' home shirt is described as "iconic and eye-catching" and features a commemorative design of their AESSEAL New York Stadium home which is bringing up 10 years since its opening.

The shirt is priced at £44 - so far the lowest of all 16 Championship clubs to have confirmed pricing. At the other end of the scale are Norwich City, relegated last season from the Premier League.

Their fans who want a long-sleeve replica of their kit for the coming campaign will have to fork out an eye-watering £65. The Canaries' say their striking design, which shows green pinstripes on a yellow shirt, is inspired by the 1980s era of football kits. The club refer to it as a "modern classic".

Fans wanting the short-sleeve version will have to pay £55. That is the same price as strips sold by Birmingham, Coventry (who also have a kit at £50), Sunderland and Watford. West Brom charge £54.99.

Coming in just slightly cheaper is Blackburn (£52), with four teams charging £50: Blackpool, Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Millwall.

Huddersfield fall just under this price bracket with their home kit costing fans £49, whilst Stoke and Swansea just under-cut them at £48.
