Champions League fixtures, draw dates, knockout rounds for new-look 2024-25 format

The new-look 2024-25 Champions League will officially get underway on September 17, and it will be a landmark tournament, with 36 teams participating in the league phase.

Each team will play eight games against different opponents, with all of the sides than being ranked in one group to determine whether they advance to the knockout round of the competition.

The total number of matches will therefore rise to 189, up from 125 in the previous format, and Real Madrid will be looking to defend the title that they won against Borussia Dortmund at the start of June.
