But who would win? Liverpool fan Paddy Pimblett reckons the iconic centre-back would come out victorious, and naturally, Everton supporter Molly McCann thinks 'Big Dunc' would be the last man standing.
Paddy 'the Baddy' and 'Meatball' Molly are both in action in the UFC this weekend at the O2 Arena.
After a three year hiatus, it will be back in the UK where the former will take on Rodrigo Vargas and the latter will go up against Luana Carolina.
Ahead of their contests, Pimblett and McCann were taking part in a Q&A about how well they know each other.
And on one separate occasion, they were asked who out of Carragher and Ferguson would win if they went toe-to-toe in the Octagon.
"I'm going Big Dunc," 'Meatball' Molly said to UFC on YouTube.
"Carragher, I like you mate, I like you… [but I've got to go with Ferguson]."
Whilst not the same as MMA, little does she know is that Carragher has got some boxing experience after going for a spar with Kell brook.
And because of that experience, Pimblett backed the former centre-back.
"Carragher boxes," Pimblett said.
In response McCann said: "Big Dunc knocks people out doesn't he?"
But Pimblett wasn't having any of that and instead produced a quick witted joke.
"No, big Dunc used to get red cards around Christmas time so he could go out and have a bender with his mates."
