Cardiff exploring offer to bring Warnock, 74, out of retirement after Hudson sacking

Cardiff are actively exploring bringing Neil Warnock out of retirement as their new manager, talkSPORT understands.

The Bluebirds are looking for a new boss after taking the decision to sack Mark Hudson from his position following a run of seven matches without a win in all competitions.

As a result, Cardiff now sit just one spot above the Championship relegation zone after winning just seven games all season.

In Warnock, there's a man who knows exactly what it takes to shine in the Championship.

The fans' favourite led Cardiff to promotion to the Premier League in 2018 and remains on good terms with owner Vincent Tan.

This came during a three-year spell in south Wales between 2016 and 2019, before he left the club in November that year.

Despite expressing his desire to retire, Warnock was named as Middlesbrough boss in June 2020, replacing Jonathan Woodgate and tasked with helping the club to avoid relegation with eight games of the season remaining.

Warnock managed to do exactly that, before being offered the job on a permanent basis and staying until November 2021.

While the 74-year-old confirmed his retirement after leaving the Riverside Stadium, it remains to be seen whether he can be tempted back to one of his favourite clubs to help them in their hour of need.
