Bruno Fernandes' claim about Man United team-mate Martial proves right so far

It may be pre-season, but Manchester United's 4-0 win against their rivals in Bangkok will be a confidence boost ahead of the new Premier League season.

For Martial, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla having lost his place in the United first team, this would have been particularly sweet.

But on the way over to Asia, teammate Fernandes - in his role as in-house cameraman - interviewed a number of teammates, including the Frenchman.

Fernandes is seen cornering Martial on his seat on the plane and said: "Look who's back. Anthony Martial is back. He will be back scoring goals."

To which Martial replied: "Give me some assists please."

Fernandes then responded: "I will, for sure man. You know that we have that connection."

In the end, Martial didn't need his creativity as he darted through on goal to make it 2-0.

He will be keen to add more on the pre-season tour and force his way into new manager Erik ten Hag's plans.

A disappointing six-month spell in Andalusia saw Martial score just once in 12 appearances but has returned to Old Trafford with a point to prove as he looks to get his career back on track.

United head to Australia for a clash with Melbourne Victory on Friday followed by games with Crystal Palace and Aston Villa during their tour down under.

Martial could play a pivotal role for Ten Hag in the upcoming season with Cristiano Ronaldo's future far from certain.
