Cole Palmer is expected to undergo his medical ahead of a move to Chelsea on Thursday.

A fee believed to be around £45m was agreed on Wednesday, which came out of the blue and will see 21-year-old City academy graduate Palmer move south.

Palmer was apparently close to leaving Man City at the age of 16, but academy head Jason Wilcox pushed for the teenager to be given a contract and sent him to train with the first team where manager Pep Guardiola liked what he saw.

He remained and was part of the England U21 side that won Euro 2023.

Manchester United will continue to work on a deal for Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat.

The Premier League club can't make the Serie A side's asking price of £30m work and submitted a loan request, which was turned down on Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been their main target and it is reported that Fiorentina could be open to a loan but with an option to buy.

Fiorentina are in action in their Europa Conference League play-off against Rapid Vienna on Thursday night and Morocco international Amrabat is unlikely to be involved.

Ryan Gravenberch is said to have agreed terms with Liverpool ahead of a permanent move from Bayern Munich to the Premier League.

The Bundesliga side are thought to be chasing Joao Palhinha from Fulham and this could pave the way for Gravenberch's transfer, with £35m the rumoured fee.

The 21-year-old had interested Liverpool before he left Ajax for Bayern in 2022 and manager Jurgen Klopp will be happy to have him alongside his other new recruits in midfield - Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Ansu Fati will travel to Brighton on Thursday to complete his loan from Barcelona.

There is no buy option and the Premier League side will cover most of the 20-year-old's salary during his stay until June 2024.

Fati will have his medical ahead of the deadline and will no doubt be delighted at the thought of regular football.

He has started on the bench in Barca's first three games this season, though injuries have hampered his progress under manager Xavi.

It it thought he has a €1billion release clause on his deal that expires in 2027.

Brighton look set to hijack Tottenham's move for Ansu Fati - the man who took Lionel Messi's no.10 at Barcelona, Fulham could lose Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich, who may say auf wiedersehen to Ryan Gravenberch, who is wanted by Liverpool.

Clubs now have just two more days to complete their business before the transfer deadline on Friday 1 September.

The window closes at 11pm, with the major leagues all ending on the same day.

A handful of European countries, though, allow new players to be registered later such as Belgium (6 September), Turkey (8 September) and Portugal (22 September).

The Saudi Arabia transfer deadline is 20 September.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino remained tight-lipped on the futures of Conor Gallagher and Marc Cucurella as well as the reports linking Manchester City starlet Cole Palmer with a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues boss was quizzed on the futures of his players as well as the Manchester City starlet after Chelsea's Carabao Cup victory over AFC Wimbledon.

On the Gallagher reports, Pochettino said: "I don't know anything about that. The players that are training with us are in our plans and that's why there's nothing to say about this."

On the Cucurella reports, Pochettino said: "The players that are in our plans are involved with us every day in the training ground. The players that were not in our plans were not with us."

And when asked about Palmer, Pochettino said: "At the moment nothing to say, they're only rumours."

Brighton are closing in on the loan signing of Barcelona star Ansu Fati, talkSPORT understands.

Fati, who was once tipped to be Lionel Messi's successor at the Camp Nou, was linked with a loan switch to Tottenham earlier on Wednesday.

But the 20-year-old forward is now destined to join the Seagulls with manager Roberto De Zerbi said to be a key factor in Fati choosing this move.

Harwood-Bellis captained England to European Under-21 Championship glory this summer.

The 21-year-old centre-back was part of Vincent Kompany's Burnley squad that won the Championship last season.

He's been on City's books since he was six years old.

Goalkeeper Steven Benda has completed a move from Swansea to Fulham.

The 24-year-old German has agreed a deal until the summer of 2026, with the Premier League club holding an option to extend by a further year.

"It's a massive club with a lot of history and tradition, so I'm really happy to be here," Benda told FFCtv.

"Just look at this stadium, and the club itself, playing for (manager) Marco Silva, it was a very easy decision."

Benda joined Swansea from 1860 Munich in August 2017 and had loan spells at Swindon and Peterborough. He made 23 appearances for the Welsh club last season, with a knee injury in January cutting short his campaign.

Fulham's director of football operations Tony Khan said: "He is a talented young goalkeeper, and while he's currently recovering from injury, we've monitored him for some time and believe that he will be a valuable addition to Marco's squad upon his return."

talkSPORT understands the Gunners have received around £34.3million for the USA striker and get a 17.5 per cent sell-on clause.

The 22-year-old had been on Arsenal's books since he was ten years old, signing his first professional contract in 2019.

It was last season where he made his name during a loan spell at French side Reims last season, which saw him score 21 goals in 37 Ligue appearances.

Lenglet spent last season on loan at Tottenham for whom he made 35 appearances across all competitions.

He will be the second defender to join Unai Emery at Villa Park this summer after Pau Torres signed from Villarreal.

As reported by Sky Sports, the centre-back is on his way to join Celtic for the season.

Phillips, who has previously been on loan at Stuttgart and Bournemouth, will travel to Glasgow tonight to finalise his move to the Scottish champions.

He made just five appearances for Liverpool last season, with starts coming in two of those.
