Sommer is expected to miss at least a couple of weeks after going off with an ankle injury in Gladbach's 2-1 DFB Cup defeat at Darmstadt on Tuesday. Tobias Sippel came on for the Swiss star in that match against the Bundesliga 2 leaders, and the veteran former Kaiserslautern goalkeeper should make his first league start of the season this weekend. Germany international Jonas Hofmann is also set for a spell on the sidelines after also being injured against Darmstadt, while midfielder Christoph Kramer is doubtful. France U21 cap Nathan Ngoumou could be in line to be included from the kick-off as a result. Club captain Lars Stindl should return to the starting XI to play alongside French pair Alassane Plea and Marcus Thuram in attack. Thuram scored twice in last week's 2-2 draw at Wolfsburg.
Götze started as Eintracht saw off fifth-tier Stuttgarter Kickers in the DFB Cup on Tuesday, and the Eagles will hope to keep their momentum going ahead of a crunch UEFA Champions League clash with Marseille next week. They recorded an impressive 5-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 10, a result that put Oliver Glasner's team fifth in the table - a point better off than sixth-placed Gladbach - ahead of this weekend's game. Randal Kolo Muani scored in both recent matches, and he is likely to be supported by in-form Japanese attacking midfielder Daichi Kamada. Veteran Makoto Hasebe and winger Ansgar Knauff are the two key injury absentees for the visitors.
