Bellingham, who on Thursday became the first ever Dortmund player to be named in an EA Sports FIFA Team of the Year, has featured in all 15 of his team's league assignments this season. Having bolstered his already glittering reputation with a string of impressive displays for England at the World Cup, the 19-year-old will anchor the midfield once more as BVB bid to begin a climb up from sixth in the standings. They will be optimistic of doing so in front of a sold-out Signal Iduna Park crowd on Sunday, although they'll have to wait and see if captain Marco Reus is fit after missing this week's training through illness, while Sebastien Haller could make his competitive debut for the club after recovering from cancer and scoring a hat-trick in a friendly against Basel earlier this month. New signing Julian Ryerson could likewise be given his first outing in a Dortmund shirt after arriving from Union Berlin, providing cover in both full-back slots.
None of the above will make easy reading for Augsburg, who earned the last of their four league victories so far this season back on Matchday 8 in early October. With that in mind, head coach Enrico Maaßen reshuffled his pack over the winter break as he looks to add to the meagre 18 goals his side have scored this term, with striker Florian Niederlechner allowed to move to Hertha Berlin, and new attackers Dion Beljo, Irvin Cardona and Kelvin Yeboah brought in to add fresh impetus. The weight of history is not on Augsburg's side however: BVB have won 13 of the 22 Bundesliga meetings to date, including each of the last four in Dortmund.
Match stats
Bellingham has won a league-high 245 challenges so far this season.
Former Dortmund strikers Erling Haaland and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang faced Augsburg on their Bundesliga debuts, scoring hat-tricks. Robert Lewandowski and Paco Alcacer have also hit three in black and yellow against Die Fuggerstädter.
BVB are unbeaten in seven home games against Augsburg, winning the last four.
Ermedin Demirovic has scored five of Augsburg's 18 goals after 15 matches. Only bottom two clubs Bochum (14) and Schalke (13) have produced fewer team goals.
Augsburg have picked up more points away from home (10) than they have at home (five).
Maaßen spent the last two seasons as coach of Dortmund's reserve team.
