Alongside VfB Stuttgart, Bochum are one of just two clubs yet to win in the Bundesliga this season. However, while Stuttgart have drawn five times, VfL have just one point on the board from the Matchday 7 draw with Cologne. Last week's chastening 4-0 defeat at RB Leipzig was hardly the new-coach bounce they were looking for in Thomas Letsch's first match in charge, so they will be out to make amends in his maiden home outing as they seek a route off the foot of the table. Their cause is not helped by the ongoing absence of injured midfield schemer Takuma Asano and now also Kevin Stöger, so creative duties will again be shared by Gerrit Holtmann, Philipp Hofmann and Simon Zoller as the home side seek to add to their league-low tally of five goals.
By way of contrast, Frankfurt are at the opposite end of the form spectrum, having taken more points (12) from their last five Bundesliga outings than any other team, including last week's impressive 2-0 triumph over previously unbeaten league leaders Union Berlin. Much of that has been down to the sparkling displays of summer recruit Randal Kolo Muani, who has two goals and a chart-topping five assists for the campaign already. However, the 23-year-old, who recently made his senior France debut, is suspended, so Rafael Borre is expected to lead the line instead. The Eagles have also been boosted by the return of playmaker Götze, who missed the midweek UEFA Champions League draw with Tottenham Hotspur with an ankle complaint, but should slot straight back into attacking midfield alongside Daichi Kamada and Jesper Lindstrom.
