By Bayern's standards, eight points from the last five Bundesliga games is a slump and has allowed Borussia Dortmund to reduce the gap somewhat. Lewandowski himself seemed to go through a blip, with two games without a goal almost unheard of for him now. But he got back to scoring ways last weekend to earn the champions a 1-1 draw away at Hoffenheim. It followed the same result against Bayer Leverkusen the week before, making it the first time in over a year that the Munich club have gone two Bundesliga games without a win. Coach Julian Nagelsmann has still been picking attacking line-ups, though, with Thomas Müller, Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Jamal Musiala all behind Lewandowski. The absence of Alphonso Davies has hurt the team, according to Nagelsmann, but the Canada international is back in light training after the discovery of a mild heart issue. Leon Goretzka is also back working with the team after a prolonged knee problem, but neither are set to start this side of the international break, while Benjamin Pavard is in isolation and misses out.
Awoniyi is also back among the goals with two in the last three games, having not scored since the start of December. Those strikes have brought Union their only two positive results in the six games since the start of February, winning 3-1 at home to Mainz and drawing 1-1 with VfB Stuttgart last weekend. Die Eisernen have only won twice on the road all season, but a first-ever victory away at Bayern would be a huge boost to their European hopes. The Berliners begin the weekend in eighth, but just six points off the top four. Frederik Ronnow deputised in goal for Andreas Luthe in the last game, but the No.1 could come straight back into the side now he's training again. Grischa Prömel is suspended for five yellow cards, so a change is needed in central midfield alongside Rani Khedira and Kevin Möhwald. Awoniyi could potentially be joined up front by January signing Sven Michel.
Match stats
Lewandowski has scored in each of his four meetings against Union to date (five goals in total).
Manuel Neuer can break the individual record for most Bundesliga wins. He's currently level with former Bayern stopper and current CEO Oliver Kahn, on 310 victories.
Bayern will play in their 1,935th Bundesliga game - a league record. Their return so far is 1,163 wins, 418 draws, 353 defeats and 4,309 goals scored
Awoniyi has 10 Bundesliga goals this season, and 16 in Union colours. One more would would take him past Max Kruse as the club's record top-flight goalscorer.
Union have taken just four points from their last six Bundesliga games, conceding as many defeats in that time (four) as across their first 20 matches of the campaign.
Away from home, Die Eisernen have lost their last three to nil - an unwanted club record.
