Bayern were left stunned by Bochum's superb 4-2 win over the German champions last weekend and Julian Nagelsmann's side needed a 90th-minute equaliser from Kingsley Coman to salvage a draw with Red Bull Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. It marked a disappointing week for a club with such high standards, but they remain six points clear at the top of the table and still very much in the Champions League hunt ahead of their last-16 second-leg in Bavaria next month. It's hardly time to press the panic button and Lewandowski's insane form is just one reason for Bayern to be confident of getting back on track at home to the top-flight's basement team. Nagelsmann went with a three-man defence in midweek, starting Coman, Lewandowski, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Müller and Leroy Sane all in attack. Bayern are expected to return to a back-four on Sunday, though, with either Gnabry or Coman most likely to make way for an extra defender in Dayot Upamecano. That would allow Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez to move to the right and left of defence, respectively.
Fürth captain Hrgota is the club's top scorer this season, contributing a third of Die Kleeblätter's 21 league goals. Three of his strikes have come in the last two rounds of fixtures, including both efforts in the 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin last time out. Having taken 12 points from a possible 24 in their last eight outings, Fürth have given themselves a chance of survival. They remain nine points from safety but are in far better shape than they were at the end of last year. Victory at Bayern would be a famous one for Stefan Leitl's side and they will have been buoyed by Bochum's convincing win over the champions last weekend. Former Bayern man Timothy Tillman goes back to the club where he spent five years before returning to Fürth in 2020 and could face brother Malik, while USA international Julian Green will also be excited at the prospect of taking on his old employers.
Match stats
Lewandowski also had 26 goals at this juncture last term, when he broke the record for single-season goals (41). He's scored six more than the entire Fürth team.
Bayern have lost as many games after 22 matches as in the full 2021/22 campaign (four). They haven't suffered five single-season defeats since 2014/15.
The defending champions have dropped points in five matches all told - all against teams in the bottom half. In contrast, they've won 10 of 10 against clubs currently in the top half.
Hrgota is Fürth's record Bundesliga scorer, with seven goals - a personal single-season best for the Swede.
Timothy Tillman featured in 92 games for the Bayern reserves, U19s and 17s, but a Supercup appearance as an unused substitute was as close as he got to the senior side.
Fürth have taken one point from 11 away games in this season's Bundesliga.
