Bayern Munich's revolution: Lewandowski, Mane, Gravenberch...

Bayern Munich's 2021/22 season did not go how they had planned despite winning a 10th Bundesliga title in a row.

They were knocked out of the DFB Pokal by Borussia Monchengladbach by a 5-0 scoreline and they were surprisingly knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Champions League by Villareal.

The two signings that new coach Julian Nagelsmann brought in from RB Leipzig, Dayot Upamecano for 42.5 million euros and Marcel Sabitzer for 15m euros, underperformed.

This is a key summer, then, and Bayern Munich are making some important decisions

The fight to keep Lewandowski

The future of the Bundesliga's top scorer, Robert Lewandowski, is a big issue. The Bayern star of the last eight years wants to leave a club.

"I still have a year to go, so I've asked the club for permission for a transfer," he told Bild.

"I think it's the best solution in the current situation, especially as the club can still receive money from the transfer. I don't want to force anything."

Lately, he has seemed even more convinced that he must leave, but Bayern are determined to keep him and think he is part of next season's project.

Bringing in Mane

Bayern have already sealed a deal for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane to join the club this summer.

The 30-year-old Senegalese winger, who has played as a centre-forward in the latter part of the season in Liverpool's attacking trident alongside Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, will shape a lightning-fast Bavarian attack with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry.

Bayern's other moves

Beyond Lewandowski and Mane, Bayern have made moves in other areas. They have signed Ryan Gravenberch for 18.5m euros and Noussair Mazraoui for free.

The 20-year-old Dutch midfielder, one of the most promising players in Europe, who stands out for his quality and physical power, will give a boost to a midfield that has lost Marc Roca and Corentin Tolisso.
