Tottenham fell to their first defeat in this season's Europa League and their first loss overall since the opening day of the Premier League season, losing to Royal Antwerp 1-0 in the second matchday of Group J. That results means the Belgian side go top of the group with seven points, while Tottenham and LASK are on three and Ludogorets on zero.
Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon, the two summer arrivals from Real Madrid, started in this match, but couldn't make an impact and Lior Refaelov's goal on the half hour mark turned out to be the only one of the game.
Jose Mourinho rotated his side and then, at half time, he made four substitutions as he sought a reaction. Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min came on for Giovanni Lo Celso, Dele Alli, Steven Bergwijn and Carlos Vinicius during the break.
Bale stayed on for the start of the second half, but was then substituted off too at the hour mark as Harry Kane was sent on.
Even with the striker introduced, Tottenham couldn't find an equaliser and fell to their first continental defeat of the new campaign.
