Arnold named his 26-man squad on Monday with Qatar 2022 just 12 days away and veteran defender Trent Sainsbury - who is married to Arnold's daughter Elissa - wasn't included.
The 30-year-old made his debut with the Socceroos' senior team in 2014 and has made 54 appearances for his country.

Sainsbury currently plays for Qatari based club Al-Wakrah and was in the squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. However, he won't be representing Australia for the tournament in his new home.
Meanwhile, Newcastle-bound teenager Kuol has earnt his first call up for an international competition.
The Central Coast Mariners forward is yet to start a game for in the A-League and has just one cap for Australia from their game against New Zealand in September.
But the youngster - who will be joining Newcastle in January after the Magies agreed a deal for him back in September - will be travelling to Qatar.

West Brom's Tom Rogic is another long-standing Aussie star who has been left out of the squad for Qatar.
The Championship midfielder - who has made 53 appearances for his country - withdrew from the Socceroos' last phase of qualifying due to personal reasons.
He's played just five games for the Baggies this season, making just one start.
