Winter recruit Pepi came on to make his debut in final half hour of Augsburg's 3-1 defeat to Hoffenheim at the Bundesliga restart. A starting role may be on the cards for the recently turned 19-year-old this weekend with the Bavarians searching for the goals and points that could move them clear of relegation danger. With just 18 scored in 18 games, they currently have the fifth most miserly attack in the league and hopes are pinned on Pepi to provide. Andi Zeqiri may make way, although a reshuffle with Andre Hahn joining Michael Gregoritsch up front could be Markus Weinzierl's preferred choice. The Augsburg coach has Reece Oxford back from suspension and could throw him straight back into the mix with captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw a doubt.
Frankfurt looked on course for a fourth straight Bundesliga win and a rise to fifth place when they led Borussia Dortmund 2-0 last weekend, but the tables were turned in the final 20 minutes to render Borre's brace cosmetic. Oliver Glasner will be keen to see his team bounce straight back but will have to do so without the influential duo of Filip Kostic and Kevin Trapp. However, Kristijan Jakic is a strong shout as an alternative to Ajdin Hrustic at the heart of the midfield, with this game likely to come just too early for Djibril Sow. Danny da Costa is again absent after missing the clash with Dortmund last weekend.
Match stats
Pepi is the second American to play for Augsburg in the Bundesliga, after Michael Parkhurst, but could become the club's first US-born goalscorer.
Gregoritsch has scored three times across his last six Bundesliga appearances to tie Florian Niederlechner as Augsburg's leading marksman after 18 rounds of fixtures.
Weinzierl has won just three of 13 meetings against Frankfurt as a coach (D5, L5).
Borre has scored four times in his last five games, after striking twice across his first 11.
Filip Kostic, who has seven assists, has put in a league-high 109 crosses this term.
Frankfurt are unbeaten in their last four Bundesliga meetings with Augsburg, winning three. They've only won two of eight at the WWK-Arena, though.
