Augsburg recorded their second win of the season last time out, with summer signing Ermedin Demirovic's second Bundesliga goal for the club enough for all three points away to promoted Werder Bremem. Enrico Maaßen's side also took down Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 2, but have lost their four other fixtures to Freiburg, Mainz, Hoffenheim and Hertha Berlin. Worryingly for a team accustomed to fighting it out in the lower echelons of the Bundesliga, three of those losses have fallen on home soil. Forwards Andre Hahn and Florian Niederlechner came into the side in Bremen, but Maaßen is expected to adopt a more conservative approach against the record champions. Full-back Mads Pedersen - who scored in last season's 2-1 win over their illustrious neighbours - and central midfielder Arne Maier should come in.
Bayern make the short trip to the WWK Arena riding the crest of a wave after beating Barcelona 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane got the goals as Julian Nagelsmann's team extended their unbeaten start in all competitions to 10 matches. An injury to Hernandez took the shine off an otherwise glorious night of football in Munich, while countryman Benjamin Pavard suffered a dead leg. Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are the ready-made replacements, but Nagelsmann has a decision to make in midfield after Leon Goretzka's game-changing contribution as a half-time substitute for Marcel Sabitzer. Further forward, UEFA's Man of the Match against Barca and Bayern's top scorer after six league games, Jamal Musiala could make way for Serge Gnabry, who was rotated in against VfB Stuttgart last weekend. Mane is four competitive games without a goal, but should lead the line as Bayern bid to end a run of three successive Bundesliga draws.
