Villa had wanted to sign Lutsharel Geertruida before the end of the summer transfer window, only for the Netherlands international to sign for RB Leipzig.
However, Villa are now in a position where there is an available spot in their squad if they wish to sign a player who is without a club.
Villa considering Solet move
According to HITC, Villa are among a vast amount of clubs who are interested in acquiring the services of Solet over the coming weeks.
The 24-year-old had been at Red Bull Salzburg since 2020 until he was released from his contract on Saturday, leaving him as a surprise option on the market.
Solet, a former France Under-20 international, has departed the Austrian giants having made a total of 106 appearances in all competitions, contributing four goals and five assists.
As many as 28 of those outings came last season, Solet playing 18 minutes of a 2-0 victory over Benfica in one of three appearances in the Champions League.
He is capable of playing at centre-back or a defensive-midfield role, his versatility only adding to the reasons why teams are interested in his signature.
What other clubs are interested?
The report alleges that West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers are toying with the idea of making a move.
Furthermore, Inter Milan, Marseille and Anderlecht have also emerged as potential destinations for the player.
Solet has previously indicated that he views the Premier League and Bundesliga as the ideal leagues for someone who possesses his attributes.
