Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale calls out pundits over goalkeeper analysis

The Gunners stopper reacted furiously on social media when BT Sport tweeted out a video from the FA Trophy final between Halifax and Gateshead.

Jamie John Cooke scored the only goal of the game just before half-time to see the FA Trophy head to the Shay Stadium for a second time.

But the goal came about after a defensive error when a shoddy backpass failed to find goalkeeper James Montgomery in time.

The Halifax midfielder jumped in to seize the chance and the goalie's clearance ended up rebounding off Cooke and into the net.

Montgomery came in for criticism from BT Sport's commentary team, which Ramsdale took issue with.

The Arsenal ace tweeted in response: "Commentator and co commentator should go and do they're goalkeeping coaching badges because they are so far off this it's incredible.

"Again easy way out by saying it's the Gks fault rather than looking at the whole situation."

BT Sport co-commentator Adam Virgo took aim at Montgomery, saying: "When the ball gets played back to him, there is no real urgency there.

"It is a little bit short but then you see it, you have got to take the ball and the player as well.

"There is a slight hesitancy there and you have to go through that a lot better.

"Take nothing away from Cooke though. He has closed the goalkeeper down and got his reward."

The commentator chimed in and said: "As you say, sold a little short by the pass from Louis Storey.

"Nevertheless, he could have cleared that with a little more conviction.

"Halifax take the lead through one of the scrappiest goals you will see all season."

Montgomery actually went on to be one of Halifax's best players, making a superb save later on in the contest from point-blank range.

But his opposite number Sam Johnson was also having a stormer, denying Gateshead with a fine stop of his own from Adam Campbell.

He had unleashed a brilliant half-volley from outside the box before Johnson kept him out late on in the contest with the Tynesiders desperate for an equaliser.
