Allegri 'furious' with six Juventus stars after heated confrontation

mirror.co.uk, 1 November 2021, 22:20

Under-fire Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri reportedly had a heated row with six of his players after the team's 2-1 defeat at Hellas Verona on Saturday.

Allegri is under huge pressure at The Old Lady after picking up just 15 points from their opening 11 Serie A games this term, leaving 16 points behind leaders AC Milan and Napoli.

According to reports collated by Football Italia, the Italian had a confrontation with six of his players after the defeat over their athleticism and confidence.

It's believed the players in question are Adrien Rabiot, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Alvaro Morata, Moise Kean and Arthur.

Rumours suggest Allegri is particularly frustrated with his forwards and midfielders, believing they should be creating more attacking opportunities.

Morata and Kean have both scored just two Serie A goals this term, with the team managing only 15 collectively. Inter Milan have scored 28.

As quoted by Football Italia, Allegri told reporters after the defeat to Verona: "Words are meaningless right now.

"We're in a bad situation, we have to accept the reality that right now we are a mid-table team.

"We can get out of this situation with a little more determination and quality. We will drag ourselves out of this situation.

"There's no point feeling sorry for ourselves, that won't help, we just need to focus on what we need to do and then things will sort themselves out."

Allegri won five consecutive titles and reached two Champions League finals during his first spell at Juventus as the club dominated Italian football.

But the experienced coach has been questioned by fans and critics since he returned to Turn in May, with many wondering whether its time to go.

Fabio Capello has revealed he advised Allegri not to go back to Juventus. As quoted by Football Italia, he said: "I told him that he would have become the scapegoat for all problems.

"I told him not to return. Juventus have a winning DNA, but right now, you can't see it.

"Players are not doing what they should. Everybody thinks it's the coach's fault, but it's not like this, it's not easy to turn the situation around."

The biggest positive for Juventus this term has been their Champions League form, winning all three of their fixtures so far against Chelsea, Malmo and Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Allegri's side face the Russians at home in the next game on Tuesday and defender Danilo has tasked them with getting three points and all but confirming their progression.

The former Manchester City defender told the club's website : "The Champions League must be a goal for us. We have the experience and the quality to try to win it."

Who is the best manager in the world right now? Have your say!

Allegri added: "Right now we are all angry and upset... We must reflect and work to improve.

"It's not a question of the defensive set-up, rather we need to improve the defensive phase in various moments of the match. The only solution right now is to work and keep quiet.

"It's a sense of responsibility that we must all have, rebuilding one brick at a time. I have an intelligent team that understands, without me needing to raise my voice in difficult moments."
