The Wycombe star was furious with the song sung about him by MK Dons supporters, and even confronted a number of fans at the front of the away end as play was stopped.
Popular frontman Akinfenwa was warming up on the touchline as a substitute when the chanting began at the half-hour mark.
He was so angry with the taunts that he stormed over to confront a group of supporters giving him abuse, with Wycombe Gareth Ainsworth also entering the field of play to complain to officials.
The chants were not racial but were certainly unsavoury in their content, with visiting club MK Dons even sending a message to their supporters on Twitter for the chants to stop.
Alex Crook was at the Adams Park Stadium for talkSPORT and spoke to Adrian Durham live on air about what he was seeing, with 'at least one' MK Dons fan ejected from the ground by stewards.
"Play has actually been halted here because of some unsavoury chants being aimed at the Wycombe substitute Adebayo Akinfenwa, as he goes through his warm-up in front of me," he said.
"I have to stress they are not of a racial nature, but we certainly don't condone what is being sung by these travelling MK Dons fans.
"He was so incensed, Akinfenwa, that he actually went over to the front row of the stand to try and confront some of those who were taunting him. There is at least one travelling support who has been hauled out by the stewards.
"Gareth Ainsworth was on the pitch at one stage and referee Robert Lewis did stop play while it all calmed down.
"The stewards are still trying to deal with it, it's absolutely disgraceful scenes from that away end - a jam-packed away end for this Bucks derby."
The game was soon restarted after supporters calmed down, with 30 minutes on the clock, but it's likely the chants will lead to action from the Football Association.
