The 27-year-old is said to be attracting interest from a number of top clubs around Europe, including Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Lookman was recently announced as the 2024 African Footballer of the Year following a sensational campaign with Italian side Atalanta during 2023-24.
The Nigeria international made worldwide headlines at the conclusion of last term, netting a hat-trick during the Europa League final against a previously-unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen.
The former Everton man has enjoyed a productive start to the current campaign for La Dea, scoring eight goals and providing four assists across 13 Serie A contests.
Liverpool, Man City in for Lookman?
According to Anfield Watch, Atalanta star Lookman has informed two Premier League clubs of his wish for a move back to England in the near future.
The report claims that Liverpool were contacted by the representatives of the 27-year-old during the summer transfer window regarding the possibility of a move.
As well as Arne Slot's Reds, it is understood that Lookman has also offered his services to Premier League champions Manchester City ahead of the January trading point.
The Nigerian is said to have kept a property in the North-West of England in the eventuality that he secures a switch to either one of the aforementioned clubs.
Lookman turned out on 48 occasions for Liverpool's local rivals Everton between 2017 and 2019, finding the net just four times for the struggling Toffees.
Would Lookman play at Liverpool?
Lookman and his representatives have seemingly taken a forward approach to getting back onto the Premier League scene, although there are not guarantees that the player would be a starter at Anfield.
Liverpool have enjoyed a marvellous beginning to the Slot era on Merseyside and currently sit two points clear at the summit of the top-flight standings.
An attacking three containing the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz has shone for the Reds, and it is unclear whether Lookman could force his way to the forefront of Slot's plans.
