Derby County's Lee Buchanan is set for quite the career move as he prepares to move to German side Werder Bremen.
The 21-year-old defender was part of the Rams' side which dropped out of the Championship last season. But he clearly caught the eye of Bremen and they are poised to complete a deal as they prepare for a season back in the Bundesliga after promotion last term.
A deal is expected to be wrapped up shortly as Buchanan gears up for an exciting change as he heads abroad.
With that in mind, Mirror Football casts an eye over five other Brits plying their trade away from these shores.
Oliver Burke
Buchanan is set to double Bremen's Brit contingent after they swooped for Scottish striker Burke last week. The 25-year-old ended an unspectacular spell with Sheffield United to finalise a move to the Bundesliga. And it is a league Burke has prior experience of, having spent a portion of time on loan at RB Leipzig in the 2016-17 campaign.
He is clearly well-travelled having also represented Spanish side Alaves earlier in his career.
Michael Ngoo
Former Liverpool forward Ngoo took a leap into the unknown when he left England to try his luck out in Albania with Tirana.
The move couldn't have panned out any better with the 29-year-old having lifted two league titles and scored plenty of goals. He is currently in his second spell at Tirana, having previously enjoyed a short stint in Cyprus. Last year, he bravely spoke about his past battle with depression after an injury ruled him out for two years.
Britt Assombalonga
For a couple of seasons, Assombalonga was considered one of the deadliest strikers outside the Premier League.
His goalscoring form persuaded both Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest to fork out hefty transfer fees. Indeed, between 2012 and 2020 he scored double figures in all but one league season - and that campaign was due to an injury which restricted him to just four games.
After his contract at Boro was allowed to run down last summer he made an eye-raising choice to switch to Turkish side Adana Demirspor. He returned to his old self in his first season, scoring double figures for the team which posted a top-half finish in the Turkish Super Lig.
Jordon Ibe
Ibe was tipped for big things when Liverpool signed him as a teenager in 2012. He would go on to make more than 40 Premier League appearances for the Reds before moving on to Bournemouth and then Derby.
He left Derby at the end of the 2020-21 season and later would speak about his battles with depression.
He got back to full fitness after an injury and earlier this season decided to move abroad, joining Turkish second tier side Adanaspor.
Danny Loader
Loader was born in Reading and after initially joining Wycombe's youth side he would go on to join his hometown club.
He progressed through the age groups before making his first team breakthrough with the Royals in the 2018-19 campaign. He then made the surprise move to Portuguese giants Porto in the summer of 2020. He was signed to join their B team but after impressing sufficiently, last season saw him earn a first team call-up - and he didn't disappoint.
He scored on his debut just minutes after climbing off the bench. The season ended on a high too, with Porto claiming the league title.
