With City taking on Brentford in the Premier League on Tuesday night, all eyes were on how Walker would greet Maupay, who was named on the Bees bench.
Just minutes after the Bees striker came on at the Etihad Stadium, he came up against Walker, who was riled up by him after claims he made jibes over his recent family problems in their recent Premier League encounter two weeks ago.
And the England international wasted no time scything him down, earning a yellow card in the process.
Maupay, who came on in the 68th minute had flicked the ball past the right-back on 81 minutes, who bashed him off the ball and rightly was shown a booking.
It seemed only a matter of time before Walker had planted one on the Frenchman in one of the sub-plots to Tuesday's match.

Only two weeks ago when City and Brentford met at the Gtech Stadium did Maupay try to wind-up Walker throughout the match it seemed.
The striker, who has garnered a reputation in recent times for his actions, provoked a furious reaction from the City star in west London.
While it was not known exactly what was said, cameras appeared to show Walker telling a match official that he had disrespected his family.
Plenty has been made of the defender's recent off-field antics, specifically over claims he has had a second child with a woman that is not his wife.

However, in the build-up to the reunion, Maupay had denied ever mentioning Walker's family.
"The people who know me, they know I wouldn't say something like that, but it is a bit unfair because if I don't talk then people will think I'm guilty," he said.
"I'm not going to say [what he said], but, if you read my lips properly and find out, everyone would laugh.
"People say footballers are boring, then all of a sudden a player does this and everyone goes, 'Why, Neal? He's the most disliked player. Blah blah blah'.
"For me, football is a game, it's entertainment. I'm just having fun and, on the pitch, I'm trying to do everything to win.
