Vinicius Junior enjoyed his best night so far for Brazil after most people in Spain had gone to sleep. After 11 games, he got his first goal in the 46th minute of his 12th cap.
His patience was rewarded, just as it had been with both Flamengo and Real Madrid, where he also needed time to get off the mark.
His first strike came by knocking a finish calmly between Claudio Bravo's legs at the Maracana, one of the most iconic stadiums in the world and one that means a lot to him as an ex-Flamengo man.
Vini has had to work hard for his place, constantly knocking on Tite's door, with the coach having overlooked him time and again, most surprisingly in November when he was in fine form for Los Blancos.
Vinicius had bought 140 tickets for the game for his family and friends, as though he knew it would be a special night. It was at that same venue where he became the youngest debutant in Brazil's history at 16.
The night took on extra importance for Vinicius as he played alongside his hero and friend, Neymar, and closest friend Lucas Paqueta, who now plays at Lyon.
The coaching staff delighted
Brazil's staff and players were all buzzing for the Real Madrid forward.
"He's more confident," it was explained to MARCA. "His talent is showing more and more.
"He knows his role and that of his teammates. He's worked and keeps working hard, and that's why he has a bright future."
