On September 11, 2001, the world stopped. An act of terrorism carried out on the United States left almost 3,000 dead at New York's Twin Towers and the Pentagon in Washington, not forgetting Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania.
Everybody's life changed that day after an event that, 20 years on, is still felt. It was a tragedy that changed the world, and one that also shook the world of sport.
In Spain, there were a number of clubs travelling to play in their respective European competitions. Real Madrid, Valencia, Mallorca and Deportivo La Coruna were all in action. Los Blancos and Valencia were facing Roma and Arsenal, respectively.
On the 20th anniversary of the attacks, MARCA TV are premiering a 20-minute documentary recalling those tragic hours. The documentary includes testimonies from Vicente del Bosque, then Real Madrid coach, and Amedeo Carboni, ex-Valencia player.
Jose Felix Diaz, Diego Pico and Jose Antonio Sanz - all MARCA reporters - also give their accounts of the day's events, as does Juan Ignacio Gallardo.
