Luis Suarez was in floods of tears after guiding Atletico Madrid to the La Liga title but despite being extremely emotional, the charismatic striker still managed to have a dig at his old club Barcelona.
Only two players have scored more goals for Barca than Suarez and one of those - Lionel Messi - is considered one of the greatest players of all time and has spent his whole career at Camp Nou.
Yet despite scoring 198 goals in just 283 games - in only six years - the Uruguayan was sold by Barcelona last summer for an initial fee of just £4.3million.
The fact Barcelona were willing to sell Suarez for such a small fee to someone who was a title rival is telling when it comes to what Barcelona and head coach Ronald Koeman thought about his potential impact this season.
So the 34-year-old can be forgiven for feeling pretty smug on Saturday night, after his 21st goal of the season handed his new club Atletico their first La Liga title since 2014.
Suarez broke down into tears upon the final whistle and acknowledged the Barcelona rejection during his TV interview.
He said: "Barca didn't value me and Atletico opened their doors for me. I will always be grateful to this club for trusting in me."
Suarez's impact on this Atletico side cannot be underestimated.
This was not a case of a striker inflating his figures with hat-tricks in games where the points have been decided. Most of Suarez's goals this season have been decisive.
And that has continued to be the case in the crucial final week.
On Sunday, it was Suarez who kept Atletico in the driving seat going into the final round of matches after he scored an 88th-minute winner over Osasuna.
It meant Diego Simeone's men went into Saturday night's fixture with Real Valladolid with their two-point lead over rivals Real Madrid still intact.
So it was fitting that with the score at 1-1, it was Suarez who scored on the counter midway through the second half to make it 2-1 and hand Atletico just their third La Liga title since 1977.
Real Madrid knew they needed to win and although they made hard work of it, late goals from Karim Benzema and Luka Modric meant Los Blancos would have lifted the La Liga trophy had it not been for Suarez's winner.
Atletico have claimed 21 points courtesy of Suarez's goals, which is more than any other player in La Liga.
"He's Suarez," Simeone stated after winning the title. "I said this a few days ago, maybe he was lucky, maybe I was lucky (with him joining), but that surname speaks for himself."
