Sunday's La Liga predictions including Granada vs. Barcelona

Villarreal vs. Las Palmas (Sunday, 1.00pm)

Two sides level on eight points in the bottom half of the La Liga table will do battle on Sunday, as Villarreal welcome Las Palmas to the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Having failed to impress in the opening eight games, the hosts will aim to put their slow start to the season behind them and begin climbing the Spanish top flight on the back of a Europa League victory in midweek.

We say: Villarreal 2-1 Las Palmas

While Villarreal are yet to hit the ground running in La Liga this term, they should fancy themselves to get past a competitive Las Palmas team at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Atletico vs. Real Sociedad (Sunday, 3.15pm)

Two of last season's top four in La Liga will lock horns in the Spanish capital on Sunday afternoon, with Atletico Madrid welcoming Real Sociedad to Wanda Metropolitano.

Atletico are currently fourth in the table, boasting 16 points from their opening seven matches, while Real Sociedad sit one position and one point behind their opponents in this game.

We say: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Real Sociedad

This has all of the makings of a cracking match, but we are finding it difficult to separate them. Atletico are the favourites on home soil, but Simeone's side have so many injury problems, especially at the back, and we are expecting Real Sociedad to be good enough for a point this weekend.

Celta Vigo vs. Getafe (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Celta Vigo will be looking for just their second victory of the 2023-24 La Liga campaign when they welcome Getafe to the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos on Sunday evening.

The home side have struggled to get going this season, currently sitting down in 18th position in the table, while Getafe are 11th, boasting nine points from their opening eight matches.

We say: Celta Vigo 1-2 Getafe

Not too much is going right for Celta at the moment, and we can see Benitez's side losing again there. Getafe have a lot of talent in the forward positions and have picked up solid draws in their last two matches, so the capital outfit will enter Sunday's contest in a good place.

Alaves vs. Betis (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Real Betis will be aiming to post their third straight win in all competitions when they resume their La Liga campaign away to Alaves on Sunday night.

The visitors are currently seventh in the table, boasting 12 points from their first eight matches, while Alaves are down in 17th, having picked up just seven points from their opening eight games of 2023-24.

We say: Alaves 1-2 Real Betis

Alaves are a tough side to back at the moment, and we are finding it difficult to predict anything other than an away win here. Real Betis will not have had long to prepare for this match, but their quality should allow them to secure an important three points ahead of the international break.

Granada vs. Barcelona (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Barcelona will be bidding to make it three straight wins in all competitions when they head to Nuevo Estadio de Los Carmenes on Sunday evening to face a struggling Granada.

The Catalan outfit are currently second in the table, boasting 20 points from their opening eight matches of the campaign, while Granada are 19th, having picked up just five points from their first eight games.

We say: Granada 1-2 Barcelona

Granada's last two league games against Barcelona have finished 1-1, and it would not be a shock to see a draw on Sunday, especially considering the away side's injury issues. However, we are just backing the reigning champions to navigate their way to what would be an important three points.
