Fabinho was once snubbed by Real Madrid before he went on to become a sensation with Liverpool, meaning he and Mohamed Salah are both seeking revenge in the Champions League final Fabinho was snubbed by Real Madrid before joining Monaco

Mohamed Salah has already revealed how he is eager to "settle the scores" against Real Madrid on Saturday, but he isn't the only Liverpool star looking for revenge.

Liverpool softened the blow of their Champions League final defeat to Madrid in 2018 by signing Fabinho shortly after, as they spent £40million on the Monaco star. He has since become one of Liverpool's most important players, and Jurgen Klopp has even labelled him as the best in his position across the footballing world.

Fabinho actually spent one season on loan at Real Madrid in 2013 before joining Monaco from Portuguese side Rio Ave, as he wasn't up to the required standard at Los Blancos. But he's flourished ever since leaving the Spanish capital, and he now has the perfect opportunity to hit Madrid where it hurts in the Champions League final.

Liverpool fans were delighted to see that Fabinho returned to full training on Thursday, with the Brazilian's fitness a concern ahead of the final. And with Fabinho seemingly fit to face Real, it gives Liverpool every chance of completing a cup treble this season.

Fabinho has found his feet at Liverpool after becoming one of the hottest prospects at Monaco between 2013 and 2018, but at the age of 18, a move to Madrid must have been a dream. He was barely given a chance, and even his former Real Madrid team-mate Tomas Mejias noticed his quality from an early age.

Mejias said: "To be honest, no-one expected this career, but from the beginning you could see the quality in this player. In the moment someone gave him the chance, his quality was out straight away.

And even Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso was aware of his potential when he saw him with his own eyes while at Real Madrid. The Spaniard has since said: "You could see that technically he was very good, physically he was very good."

But Fabinho was snubbed, and now he prepares to face off in an intriguing battle with fellow Brazilian Casemiro, who is his opposite number in the Real Madrid side. Fabinho can get some personal pride and revenge, as well as help Liverpool cap off a fantastic season.

Salah will also be looking to seek revenge, after he was forced off with injury against Real Madrid in the 2018 final. A clash with Sergio Ramos ended his game prematurely, before Liverpool went on to lose 3-1.

As soon as Real reached the final, Salah posted the message "time to settle the scores" on his social media. And as soon as Liverpool's Premier League season ended in disappointment, he posted again, this time saying: "We're not done yet."

In Liverpool's press conference ahead of the final, Salah made it very clear that he has been waiting to face Madrid, and put things right after last time. "If you ask everybody [at Liverpool ], everyone wanted that game," Salah said.

"I don't know why we're not allowed to talk about it but I'm ok to talk about it - I wanted that game! I wanted to play Real Madrid before that game [against Manchester City]. Of course, I'm not giving too much credit to them. They're an unbelievable team with a great coach, great players. When they asked me who I wanted, I said Madrid. It's an easy answer."

Both Salah and Fabinho will get their chances in the Stade de France at 8pm on Saturday night.
