There was always going to be drama when the two nations met at a World Cup for the first time since THAT Luis Suarez handball incident back in 2010.

And, of course, there was always going to be a penalty to Ghana, which came early on in the first half.

They were given a chance to go a goal up when Sergio Rochet brought down a Ghana player in the box.
As soon as that was awarded, the players started to surround the penalty spot in order to protect it.
This appeared to be so no Uruguay player could try and scuff up the spot and make the kick tougher.
Enter Liverpool striker Nunez who tried to wind up the Ghana players.

He stuck his leg in between his opponents to try and get to the penalty spot.

This brought the wrath of the Ghanaians, who pushed him away and the referee duly handed Nunez a yellow card.

It did not appear the striker was seriously trying to scuff up the spot, but more to rattle his opponents.
Andre Ayew then stepped up and hit a poor penalty that Rochet saved.
Minutes later, Uruguay went down the other end and scored twice to put them in a commanding position in the Group H clash.

It will also have huge implications for who qualifies for the knockout stages.
Ghana had their fate in their own hands, sitting in second place before the game started on three points and knew that a draw would likely see them through.
Uruguay needed to win to give themselves a chance of reaching the last-16, and hope that South Korea do not beat Portugal.
