Notts County have blasted the decision to call off their National League game away at Dover - barely two hours prior to kick-off.
The match officials postponed the game at just after 1pm due to a waterlogged pitch at the Crabble Stadium.
That was despite a previous update, just two hours previously, that there were no concerns over the playing surface.
The decision means that County supporters face a wasted 420-mile round trip. Plenty of fans who were already on the way to the game vented their frustration on social media.
County posted a comment on their official Twitter page, confirming the late postponement.
What's the most you have travelled only for a game to be called off? Let us know in the comments
They wrote: "Despite receiving no warning whatsoever of a pitch inspection or the match being in doubt, the referee has arrived at the stadium and called the game off - stating the pitch is totally unplayable.
"We can only apologise to supporters who have made another wasted journey."
The club's previous update, provided at 11am, said: "We've been in contact with @DoverAthletic and there are currently no concerns about the match going ahead. Safe travels to all Pies!"
Dover tweeted confirmation of the postponement, saying: "Game off. The referee has decided the pitch is unplayable and with further rain forecast has called the game off."
County are currently sixth in the Vanarama National League and were looking to extend their fine run in recent games.
Ian Burchnall's side have won their last four outings, with an impressive 3-1 win over Wrexham last time out.
The Hollywood-owned Welsh side actually took the lead at Meadow Lane but County hit back with Kyle Wootton's brace and Jayden Richardson's strike sealing a memorable comeback victory.
One player who didn't play that game was winger Callum Roberts, who has been the subject of much speculation.
Burchnall admits there has been "no formal contact" for the player but admits interest is understandable.
"Ever since I've been here there's been interest in Cal because he's a good football player," he said.
"There's been no formal contact or anything to do with Cal. He's played really well this season in the moments he has had.
"He missed last week's game because he was out all week ill. He's provided goals and assists already this season. A fully fit and firing Cal Roberts is really important to us.
"But again he is a player that will no doubt have interest in him because he's a talented player."
As for crisis club Dover, they are rock bottom of the table.
The club were hit with a 12-point deduction at the start of this season after being unable to complete the previous campaign due to a lack of finances.
They have yet to win in 22 games this term, with just four draws. With the deduction, they are 24 points adrift of safety.
